What style of ballet do you teach?
At Maria’s School of Dance, students are taught the Cecchetti method of ballet. This method is based on the original teachings of Maestro Enrico Cecchetti, and is the basis by which the Cecchetti Council of America developed the graded syllabus used in our classes. It is our belief that students taught using this method are more focused and develop a stronger base of ballet technique because it is broken down into tangible goals that each student can accomplish.
Do you offer pointe classes?

All of our classes will perform in our annual recital with the exception of Ballet Technique. Recital assignments can be found on our current fall schedule. Recital performance is optional, however, we do believe that recital provides each dancer with the opportunity to show the skills that they have learned, and each dancer gains pride and self confidence.
Why is rehearsal mandatory?
Dress rehearsal allows the students to become familiar with the auditorium surroundings, helps them feel comfortable with their performance and being onstage. Lighting, music cues, set changes, and all other logistics for an organized and professional performance are rehearsed so that the students make the best impression possible.
What is the “Opener” and “Closer”?
Recital is a celebration of all of our dancer’s accomplishments. We strive to present a professional and entertaining performance. We open and close each recital with memorable choreography, staging, dancing, singing and acting. Participation in Opener and closer is open to all MSD students, ages eight and up, with at least two years dance experience.
